MATERIAL MIND 2023

Material Mind
The goal of the Material Mind series is to abandon the idea that humans are dualized into soul and body and to accept the view that consciousness is the same as the action of matter, expressing our mind through matter. The material properties used in the work symbolize the diversity of human consciousness. This series connects the unique characteristics of materials such as metal, glass, and synthetic resin with various human personalities. If human consciousness were matter itself, symbols would not be necessary, but since this project is about making the incomprehensible and invisible consciousness understandable and visible, it became an unnecessary necessity.
Additionally, the afterimages created by human-shaped sculpture in the work moving left and right can be viewed as EIS(residues of sense), as referred to in the parent project ECHO-IMAGE-SENSE, and also mean the stream of consciousness.
